Posted about 10 hours ago by Miki Miura
The HAPN Leadership Award was established in 2009 to recognize nurses who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and made a positive impact in Hawaii. The winner of the 2025 HAPN Leadership Award went to Dr. Mandi Benton. Dr Benton was chosen for this prestigious award for her excellent leadership among APRNs in Hawaiʻi.
Mandi Benton, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, has been a relentless advocate for ensuring APRNs practice to their full potential in Hawaii. With over 20 years at Queens Health System, including more than 15 years as a cardiac APRN specializing in heart failure, Ms. Benton exemplifies expertise and dedication. She pioneered the role of Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at Queens, significantly expanding their scope of practice, resources, and systems, and actively championing their roles within the health system. Her leadership led to the creation of Hawaii’s first acute care nurse practitioner (NP) fellowship program, a major milestone in statewide clinical education. Beyond her primary role, she proactively mentors APP leaders across Hawaiʻi to develop post-graduate training programs for NPs, sharing her extensive experience to strengthen the state's healthcare workforce. Additionally, Dr. Benton planned and organized the first APP conference for the organization, which was well attended by APPs across the state.
Congratulations, Dr Benton!
