Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Explain the role of long-acting reversible contraception devices (LARCs) as a contraceptive method for women seeking a birth control option;
  • Demonstrate best practices for proper LARC (Implant and Intrauterine Device, IUD) insertion and removal for eligible patients;
  • Generate a patient communication plan, including education on IUDs and implants and collaboration on appropriate LARC selection based on the patient's history and personal preferences.
   
Target Audience: 
This activity has been designated to address the educational needs of primary care clinicians and resident/fellows in family medicine. It may also be of benefit to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers who are involved in family planning.
