Improving the Treatment of Severe Asthma in the Biologics Age

Interpret Recent Data for Real-World Practice and More

Up to 5% of the 5.5 million children with asthma in the United States have uncontrolled and/or severe disease, leaving them at risk for life-threatening exacerbations, potentially harmful effects of oral corticosteroid use, and diminished quality of life. Targeted biologic therapies have emerged as safe and effective add-on options for children with severe asthma who are unresponsive to traditional treatments. For optimal outcomes, these children should be referred to a specialist, and a multidisciplinary care approach should be implemented over the longer term.

The second activity in a 2-part series, this program utilizes expert commentary to analyze and contextualize the most current data from the published literature as well as key presentations from recent large medical conferences. The overarching goal of the activity is to provide clinicians who manage the care of children with asthma with up-to-date guidance regarding current research findings and best practices.
