Free CE Course on Diabetic Kidney Disease
NPACE is pleased to offer our NP community another Free CE opportunity. Earn 1.0 CE credit for participating in the PCEC partner program, "Decision Points in the Management of Diabetic Kidney Disease." The course is available until Sunday, October 31st and must be completed by then to earn credit.
The incidence of DKD continues to rise, and with it, changes in the clinical presentation. The treatment of patients with DKD is rapidly evolving due to new treatment options and updated guidelines. This case-based activity considers the management of patients with DKD based on eight clinical questions, such as 1) How should a patient with diabetes be screened for chronic kidney disease? 2) What are the goals of treatment for a patient with DKD? 3) What factors should be considered when selecting a SGLT-2 inhibitor? 4) What is the anticipated role of finerenone in the treatment of patients with DKD?
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the risks of kidney disease and their consequences in patients with T2DM.
- Screen appropriately for the presence of CKD in patients with T2DM.
- Initiate evidence-based therapy to slow the progression of kidney disease in patients with T2DM and CKD.
- Become familiar with the mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist and its role in the treatment of patients with DKD.
This presentation is supported by an educational grant from Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc.
